The municipal brewery in Pilsen was established by Pilsen town brewers in 1842, the first batch of beer was brewed on 5 October 1842. Soon the fame of Plzeňský Prazdroj beer under the trademark of Pilsner Urquell spread throughout the world and the brewery gradually expanded into its present-day form. The Na Spilce restaurant is located in the brewery complex in the area of the former fermenting cellars. Tours of the brewery include the modern visitor’s centre with a model of the brewery, a tour of the brewing room, the original lager cellars and the cooper trade exhibition.
