The House of Omenoni was built around 1565. Its name derives from the eight telamons (Omenoni, or 'big men') of the facade, carved by Antonio Abondio. The palace was the home of the sculptor Leone Leoni, Pompeo Leoni's father, whose name alludes to the relief with the Libel torn by lions. Giorgio Vasari said '... the building is so full of whimsical inventions, there is perhaps not another like it in Milano', and reflected the eclectic nature of Leone Leoni, called Aretino, collector of ancient art items paintings of Tiziano Correggio and the famous Leonardo da Vinci's Atlantic Code.
