At the center of Piazza delle Erbe there is the fountain of Madonna Verona, built in 1368 by Cansignorio della Scala using an ancient Roman statue, located in this site since the first century AD. The fountain, with a marble basin, was made by Bonino da Campione using water coming from the river Lori di Avesa.
