The open-air swimming pool in the Poruba district of the city is not only the largest of its kind in the Czech Republic, but one of the largest in Central Europe. The overall surface area of the water is 41,200 square metres, so in fact the pool is more akin to a natural feature such as a lake or reservoir. In sunny weather, up to 15,000 visitors pack into the pool at any one time. The pool measures 380 m x 220 m and among its most popular attractions are the 55-metre water slides and a toboggan. Surrounded by 70 000 square metres of beautiful greenery, the site offers a superb range of sporting facilities – minigolf, tennis, badminton, volleyball, streetball, bungee trampolining and skittles – as well as a children’s play area with sandpits, a wooden play-castle and inflatable bouncy castles. The ‘Croatian Riviera’ themed attraction mimics the laid-back atmosphere of the Mediterranean coast. In hot weather, visitors will particularly appreciate the tropical cocktail bars and other refreshments.
