Porta Borsari is a gate built during Roman times, came to the present day in a remarkable state of preservation. It was the main entrance to city, where Via Postumia ends, as within the walls its name became Decumano Massimo. The current name derived from the term 'Bursarii', the customs officials that in this place collect duties for the bishops.
